Three Killed, Six Injured in Boarding House Blaze

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — A fire swept through a boarding house early Tuesday, killing three residents and injuring six others, one critically, police said. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Fire Capt. Harry Coop said officials believe that the fire started when a resident fell asleep while smoking a cigarette.
