Former college basketball star Nancy Lieberman signed with the Springfield Fame of the U.S. Basketball League, a one-year-old men's summer league.

Lieberman, 27, signed a one-year, no-cut contract for an undisclosed sum, then practiced with her new teammates.

Former UCLA star Anne Meyers, believed to be the only other woman to compete against men professionally, was signed by the NBA's Indiana Pacers in 1979. She did not gain a place on the team.
