Dave Dombrowski, vice president of baseball operations for the Chicago White Sox, was fired by Ken Harrelson, the chief of operations for the team, who was unavailable for further comment.

"This organization is losing an excellent baseball man," Manager Tony LaRussa said. "He was involved in making us a good organization, so it is going to affect us."
