BRIEFLY

Reagan moved to help some oil producers.

June 09, 1986

The Administration extended to all oil and gas wells on federal land modest relief from regulations which, without change, could force abandonment of productive wells because of low prices. On certification that a well is uneconomic at current prices, the Interior Department will permit the operator to suspend production without having to remove the well casing and fill the hole with concrete--as required under the regulations presently.
