The two of them were coming toward me in the pickles aisle. The blond gentleman was tall and strong looking, pushing his full shopping cart. His daughter with her curly golden hair was pushing her toy shopping cart filled with a teddy bear, a pint carton of juice and animal crackers. I pulled myself and my cart to the side as I smiled at the sight of this father and daughter spending Sunday afternoon at the grocery store.
I knew he had to load her and her cart into the car and also unload them and the many sacks of food he was purchasing. I expected he would do it with patience and affection. How lucky they both are, I thought. They are making a sweet memory of each other. I liked the memory so much, I made my own.
