Pomona : 355 Drug Arrests Reported

June 26, 1986

In a crackdown on drug dealing, Pomona police say they have arrested 355 people on narcotics charges in the three-month period beginning Feb. 7, 1986. Officers spent nearly 7,000 man-hours and served 42 search warrants in several target areas that had been identified by informants and surveillance as sites of heavy drug sales, Police Chief Richard Tefank said.

The arrests, made by the newly formed Street Sales Task Force, were mostly for the suspected possession and sale of rock cocaine, Tefank said. While the increased enforcement will probably push drug dealing to other areas, Tefank said that the arrests were part of a continuing effort to crack down on street sales in the city.
