Construction has started on the new Ralph M. Parsons Discovery Center at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County in Exposition Park. It is a multi-sensory exhibit of scientific and historic objects.
The center will be located in a large space off the museum's original rotunda area and will provide a hands-on natural history experience for the more than 250,000 children who visit the museum each year.
Tailored to preschool through first-grade children, Discovery Center will incorporate two major exhibit areas modeled after the habitat halls. Discovery boxes will allow visitors to handle archaeological, anthropological and historical specimens.
