Catherine Streibert Germann, coordinator of the extended day-care program of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, died Wednesday of cancer at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles. She was 50.
Mrs. Germann, known to friends as Tinka Streibert, served as a Ford Foundation executive in New York City before moving to Los Angeles in 1977 and becoming an associate director of program underwriting for public television station KCET.
She later returned to college, obtained a master's degree in educational psychology and child development, and embarked on a new career that saw her become an authority on child care.
She is survived by her husband, A. C. Germann of Westwood; her father, Theodore C. Streibert, of Syosset N.Y.; and two brothers, Marshall G. Streibert of New York City and Theodore P. Streibert of West Newton, Mass.
Funeral services will be private. The family requests that contributions be made to the California Children's Lobby, P.O. Box 448, Sacramento, Calif. 95802.
