Carbon Canyon Development: After months of debates, the City Council has settled on the maximum number of homes it will allow in the Carbon Canyon area. Developers may build up to 2,519 units, the council agreed in a recent 4-1 vote, with Councilman Carrey Nelson dissenting. Residents of rural Carbon Canyon had expressed concern that their way of life would be altered if greater development is allowed. Now, with a blueprint for development in hand, the city must still decide how to pay for infrastructure improvements, such as streets and sewers, that will be needed for additional homes.
