Columbia Savings now owns 4.9% of Mattel.

July 08, 1986

In an amended filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Beverly Hills-based savings and loan said it bought the shares for investment purposes only. Most of the stock--nearly 1.5 million shares--was acquired for $21 million from late May through early July, the S&L said. Columbia Savings initially filed a report stating that it owned 5.3% of Mattel's stock but then amended the figure to 4.9% after realizing that it miscalculated the amount of Mattel's common stock.
