July 08, 1986

The New York-based company said it has received unsolicited offers for its food business, which markets Progresso, Hain, Hollywood and Las Palmas brands. The food unit had operating earnings of about $19.8 million in 1985. During the last several years, the Progresso line of Italian and ethnic foods has moved from a regional brand primarily available in the Northeast to a national brand marketed in all 50 states.
