Siamese Twin Dies After Separation Surgery

ST. LOUIS — Twin girls born joined at the chest and abdomen were separated in a six-hour operation, and one of the infants died today after doctors were unable to control bleeding resulting from the procedure, a hospital official said.

Kellie Lynne, who died, and Kimberly Dawn Peterman were born March 24 in Herrin, Ill. Doctors at Cardinal Glennon Hospital on Wednesday separated the liver the girls shared, along with one arm and two hands that were connected.
