Coke Snubbed in Peking

PEKING — China's State Council has dropped Coca-Cola from state banquet menus and has named the locally bottled Heavenly Palace Cola to replace it, the official China Light Industry Newspaper reported Friday. Coca-Cola has been the standard soft drink served at state banquets and official gatherings in the Chinese capital since 1981, when production of the drink began here.
