Colton's Faria Wins Speedway Fair Derby

Mike Faria of Colton was undefeated in five rides Friday, including the four-lap main event, to win the speedway Fair Derby before 8,763 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Faria became the 10th rider in 10 years to win the Fair Derby.

The other three riders in the main event--defending champion Robert Pfetzing of Garden Grove, Brad Oxley of San Clemente, and Sam Ermolenko of Cypress--finished in a three-way tie for second with 12 points.

Faria was never challenged in the the main event, winning wire-to-wire. Oxley was second, Ermolenko third and Pfetzing fourth.
