Quincy Watts of Taft High leads a group of five prep athletes from the Valley-area who are rated on a national high school list published by Track and Field News magazine.
Watts, the state champion in the 200 meters as a sophomore, is fifth on the 200 list with his 20.97 clocking while junior Dave Swanson of Alemany is tied for 10th with a 7-0 in the high jump.
The three girl competitors are freshman Angela Burnham of Rio Mesa, junior Melissa Sutton of Newbury Park and Kelley Peacock of Van Nuys and UCLA.
State champion Burnham's 11.77 clocking in the 100 and Peacock's 42.79 best in the 300-meter low hurdles ranked them eighth in those events. Sutton of Newbury Park is ninth in the two-mile with her converted time of 10:33.64.
