A late-night fire of suspicious origin has caused about $300,000 in damage to Cerritos Elementary School, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Seven firefighter companies were sent to the school. They brought the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
The fire gutted one classroom containing several computers and slightly damaged two others, fire officials said.
One firefighter was taken to Pioneer Hospital in Artesia, where he was treated for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was not known.
