Concrete Industry Makes Fifteen Awards for Paving

Fifteen concrete-paving projects built in 1985 have been recognized in the Concrete Industry's 12th annual Paving Awards Program.

The awards were hosted jointly by the Southern California Ready Mixed Concrete Assn. and the Portland Cement Assn.'s Pacific Southwest Region.

Concrete Industry Awards for Engineering Excellence in design and construction were made for three streets, six parking areas, three decorative concrete projects and three special projects.

Winners include:

--Fair Oaks Avenue Reconstruction Project, South Pasadena; owner, city of South Pasadena; contractor, Dyno Construction, Inc., South El Monte; contract administrator for the city, George G. Boghossian & Associates, Inc., Glendale.

--Cerritos Towne Center Arterial Street Improvements, Cerritos; owner, city of Cerritos; designed by PRC Engineering, Orange; contractor, Silveri & Ruiz Construction Co., Garden Grove.

--Street in Villa del Cerro development, Orange; owner-builder, Jack Mann, Tustin; designed by R & M Interiors, Tustin; subcontractor, Sullivan Concrete Textures, Costa Mesa.

--Parking area at Southland Corp. Distribution Center, San Bernardino; owner, Southland Corp., Atlanta, Ga.; joint-venture contractors, Edward F. Gould Inc., Riverside, and A. R. Austin Engineering Contractor, San Bernardino.

--Parking area at Los Al U-Store and Lock, Los Alamitos; owner, Don M. Temple, Long Beach; designed by Tait & Associates Inc., Anaheim; contractor, Stromberg & Son Inc., Long Beach; subcontractor, Darel D. Porter Concrete Inc., Long Beach.

--Parking area at Robertson Business Park, Culver City; owner, Ruben Urcis, Culver City; designed by Marvin Taff, AIA, Beverly Hills; engineers Thompson & LaBrie, Pasadena; contractor, ABCO Contruction Co., Torrance; subcontractor, Lemay General Engineering, Camarillo.
