Seal Beach Music Festival Relocates

July 15, 1986

The Seal Beach Chamber Music Festival, which has been held for the past 11 years at the Mary Wilson Library, will move to a new location beginning Wednesday.

The move to the Church of Religious Science, 500 Marina Drive in Seal Beach, was prompted by a city requirement that festival administrators purchase "extensive liability insurance--which we couldn't afford," said Margaret White, chairwoman of the Orchestra Guild, a support group for the music series.

"So we will move the festival for the rest of the season to the church, which already has liability insurance," White said. She said that plans for the location of future seasons are uncertain, except that "we want the festival to continue."

Performing on Wednesday will be the Haydn Orchestra in a program of works by Vivaldi. Concerts remaining in the series include:

--July 23: pianist Michael Zearott in a program to be announced.

--July 30: Fullerton Consort in a program of music by Bach, Handel and Telemann.

--Aug. 6: Chamber Group, music by Handel, Menotti, Boccherini and others.

--Aug. 13: Haydn Orchestra, music by Mozart.
