Newly named NFL drug adviser Dr. Forrest Tennant may have put that job in jeopardy by disclosing plans to specially monitor six New England Patriots players for drug use, the Boston Herald reported.

The NFL Players' Union, outraged by Tennant's published remarks, accused him of violating rules of confidentiality included in the Rozelle plan and called for his removal during negotiations with the league over the legality of the Rozelle plan.

Union leaders told the Herald that the league has agreed to put Tennant's status on hold for the time being.
