Santa Ana : 2 Held on Stolen Property Charges

July 17, 1986

A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the theft of an estimated $125,000 worth of property--including five vehicles--recovered at a Santa Ana home, police said Wednesday.

The arrests and property seizure Tuesday afternoon culminated a weeklong investigation by the Anaheim Police Department's Crime Task Force and state parole officers.

James Jay Hunt, 32, and Tamie Robinson, 20, both of Santa Ana, were taken into custody about 4 p.m. at Robinson's home on Downie Place, Anaheim police Sgt. Jim Flammini said. He said officers found two vans, a Cadillac, an El Camino and a 1930 Ford roadster parked in front of the residence, in a backyard and on surrounding streets.

The $30,000 roadster was reported stolen Friday from an Anaheim classic car repair shop, Flammini said.

Also recovered was property from commercial and residential burglaries in various parts of the county, including savings bonds, office equipment, plumbing supplies, checks, credit cards and "a large amount of sophisticated burglary and auto theft tools," Flammini said.

He said some of the property recovered Tuesday has been linked to 15 commercial burglaries and two robberies of women attempting to make bank deposits.

Hunt, who was being held without bail, was paroled from state prison in March after serving sentences for theft, according to records.

Robinson was being held Wednesday in County Jail on $10,000 bail, police said.
