The Hollywood Kickers, led by goalkeeper Lorenzo Caccialanza, defeated the Los Angeles Heat, 1-0 Saturday night at Birmingham High.

Caccialanza, who leads the Western soccer alliance with a 1.22 goals-aganist average, repeatedly blocked shots by Los Angeles in recording his fifth shutout in 11 games.

The Kickers were unable to score until the 16:15 mark of the second half, when Rudy Ybarra scored his second goal of the season. Ybarra received a pass from Martin Vasquez via Lalo Zatarain. Zatarain deflected the ball off his chest straight to Ybarra who shot it in from 15 yards out.

In beating the heat (1-2-5), the Kickers extended their lead over second-place San Jose (3-5-4). Hollywood is 5-2-4 with three games remaining.
