Interprovincial Pipe Line Ltd. of Toronto said it has agreed to buy the Home Oil Co. energy subsidiary of Hiram Walker Resources for about $792 million . . . Newhall Resources of Valencia said it revised its latest second-quarter net of $976,000 to a loss of $124,000 to reflect a $1.1-million writedown of oil and gas producing fields . . . General Motors might close three assembly plants by the end of the decade due to overcapacity in the U.S. auto industry, GM Executive Vice President Lloyd Reuss said, but the company declined to say which ones might be considered for closing . . . Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service said they are reviewing their long-term debt ratings for VF Corp. because of the likelihood that its debt will rise significantly.
