Embattled Bradley University basketball Coach Dick Versace is one of three candidates in the running for an assistant coach's position with the Detroit Pistons.

Versace signed a one-year contract July 14 for a ninth season as Bradley coach, but was told it would be his last because of NCAA sanctions announced that same day over recruiting violations and what the NCAA called Versace's unethical behavior.

"Let's face it, Dick Versace is not loved by everybody down there (at Bradley), at least not by the administration," Piston spokesman Matt Dobek said. "But whether that would be a problem in his coming here, I don't know if that's even come up."
