Azusa : Night Parking Ban Killed

August 07, 1986

The Azusa City Council has withdrawn a proposal to ban overnight parking on city streets because residents complained that the ban would impose a hardship on those who have no place else to park. The ban was suggested to clear roads for street sweepers, ease congestion, discourage car thefts and help police spot criminal activity. Instead of a nightly ban on parking, the council suggested that the city post signs prohibiting parking during street sweeping hours only, taking care to leave at least one side of each street available for parking at all times.
