August 07, 1986

Ten people have taken out nomination papers for the Nov. 4 special election to replace Councilman Louis A. Thompson, who died last month.

Those taking out papers must complete and return them to the city clerk by 5 p.m. Friday.

The election will be held with the Nov. 4 general election.

Papers were taken out by former Councilman James Rowe, an 18-year council member who was defeated in November, 1985; Louis Heine, who finished fourth in the same 12-candidate race; Alfreddie Johnson Jr., who finished fifth, and Carlos P. Manlapaz, who finished 10th. Three seats were up for reelection in that contest.

Others taking out papers were Margaret Araujo, Henry Oh, Darrell Gilbert, Robert Fry, Victor Gonzalez and Lena Cole Dennis.
