Three Escapees Captured; Fourth Remains at Large

August 13, 1986|United Press International

LEESBURG, N.J. — Law officers Tuesday night captured a murderer and two other convicts who sawed out of a cellblock and escaped through an unguarded prison yard, tripping an alarm that guards blamed on stray cats.

A fourth convict who scaled three barbed-wire fences and fled the medium-security Leesburg State Prison Monday night still was at large, officials said.
