Sockers Sign Hirmez to Two-Year Contract

SAN DIEGO — Socker defender/forward Waad Hirmez has signed a two-year contract worth about $65,000, the team announced Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Point Loma High graduate, who was in the option year of his contract last year, is coming off his most productive season offensively.

Hirmez had 13 goals and 12 assists in 35 regular season games and eight goals and five assists in 15 playoff games. Hirmez led the Sockers with six power-play goals in the playoffs.

"Waad encompasses the work ethic," said Bob Bell, Socker general managing partner. "He's a diligent and dedicated soccer player. The Sockers are going to rely on him for years to come."
