Santa Monica : Rites Set for Police Officer

August 21, 1986

A funeral service with departmental honors will be held for Los Angeles Police Sgt. Gerald W. Mowat at 11 a.m. Friday at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Mortuary, 19th Street and Arizona Avenue.

Mowat, 47, died Aug. 17 from a reaction to a bee sting while he was visiting his seriously ill mother in Seattle.

He joined the department in 1961 and had been assigned to the West Los Angeles area for seven years. A spokesman there said Mowat had planned to retire in a few months. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie.
