WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Phil Olson of Sarasota, Fla., and Wu Chun-Liang of Tainan, Taiwan, pitched no-hitters Wednesday as their teams advanced to the semifinals of the Little League World Series.

Wu walked one batter, struck out 12, and did not allow a ball to be hit out of the infield. He also hit a two-run homer as Tainan routed Valleyfield, Canada, 26-0.

Olson struck out 10 and walked one, allowing just one ball hit out of the infield. He also singled and scored the first run on a wild pitch, and later hit a two-run double as Sarasota beat Brunswick, Md., 5-0.

Little League officials believe it is the first time two no-hitters have been pitched in one day at the World Series. There have been 11 no-hitters in 40 World Series.

Tainan will play Maracaibo, Venezuela, in today's semifinals, with Sarasota meeting Tucson, Ariz.

The winners will play in Saturday's nationally televised championship game.
