Public Hearing Will Consider Adjustments to 3 RTD Lines

August 24, 1986

Possible cancellations of some Westside and other bus lines will be considered by the Rapid Transit District's board of directors at a public hearing at 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at 425 Main St.

The service changes, proposed in anticipation of federal and state funding cuts, must be approved by the board. They would be implemented Dec. 28 or later.

Westside bus lines to be considered at the hearing include: Line 431 (Los Angeles/Westwood freeway express); Line 437 (Los Angeles/Marina del Rey express); Line 438 (Los Angeles/Culver Boulevard/Manhattan Beach express).

Written comments or testimony on the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed service adjustments may be presented at the hearing.

People unable to attend may submit written comments to the RTD secretary, 425 S. Main St., Los Angeles 90013. They are due Sept. 11.

Overall, a total of 44 RTD lines could be affected, with cancellation of 13 express lines and 12 local lines, and service adjustments and/or route extensions on 19 lines.

The RTD anticipates cuts of up to $10 million in federal subsidies and up to $12.5 million in state funding.
