REBA McENTIRE, THE JUDDS LEAD CMA FINALISTS

The Judds and Reba McEntire, with nominations in five categories, lead the finalists for the 20th annual Country Music Assn. awards. George Strait and Randy Travis are finalists for four awards each.

Winners will be announced Oct. 13 in a live CBS-TV show from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, The voting is done by the 7,500 singers, musicians, songwriters and other members of the CMA.

Nominees in key categories:

Entertainer of the year: McEntire, Willie Nelson, Ricky Skaggs, Strait, the Judds.

Male vocalist: George Jones, Gary Morris, Strait, Travis, Hank Williams Jr.

Female vocalist: Rosanne Cash, Janie Frickie, Emmylou Harris, McEntire, Anne Murray.

Vocal group: Exile, Forester Sisters, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Oak Ridge Boys, the Judds.

Horizon Award: Forester Sisters, Kathy Mattea, Dan Seals, Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam.
