MANILA — Former Gen. Fabian C. Ver, the most trusted aide of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos, visited neighboring Malaysia and came within 15 miles of the Philippines, Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile said Friday.
The former armed forces chief of staff, who fled with Marcos to Hawaii after a civilian-military revolt in February, traveled to Sabah, Malaysia, on a fake Lebanese passport, Enrile told a community group. Ver's Philippine passport was revoked after the revolt.
