Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino said he only has to sign a new contract to begin earning close to $9 million over the next six years.

The fourth-year quarterback said he did not know exactly when he would sign, but everything apparently has been worked out between his agent, Marvin Demoff, and Dolphin owner Joe Robbie.

The contract calls for the increased salary to begin this year, with the new annual rate of about $1.5 million replacing his original salary of $400,000 a year.
