Ex-Assemblyman Denies Fraud

September 08, 1986

Former Democratic Assemblyman Bruce E. Young of Norwalk pleaded not guilty today to 28 counts of mail fraud stemming from involvement with convicted public corruption figure W. Patrick Moriarty and a Los Angeles cable television firm.

Young, 40, a Sacramento lobbyist, charged at a news conference after his arraignment in Los Angeles federal court that he and his family had been harassed by the FBI for two years before his indictment last month and said he is "somewhat relieved to have a day in court." His trial was set to begin Nov. 4.
