The military commander of the contras' largest fighting force, Enrique Bermudez, said he thinks Nicaraguan rebels probably will be trained in the United States, using U.S. military instructors. Congress has approved a $100-million aid package that calls for U.S. military personnel to work with the contras, who are seeking to overthrow Nicaragua's leftist government. Bermudez is military chief of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force, based in Honduras. However, Honduras has refused to permit contras to be trained on its soil.
