The Pentagon notified Congress that it has approved arms sales worth a combined $156 million to the United Arab Emirates, Britain, Australia and Japan. Assuming there are no congressional objections, the Pentagon said the United Arab Emirates will be offered eight advanced radio systems, Britain two Phalanx ship-protection guns, Japan 38 Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles and Australia 28 Harpoon missiles along with eight spare missile bodies and training missiles. The Phalanx guns will be built by General Dynamics in Pomona, Calif.
