The Region : Woman Beaten, Locked in Car Trunk

September 10, 1986

A 30-year-old woman told police that three men beat her, then left her bound and locked in the trunk of her Cadillac after they found her trying to fix a flat tire about 3 a.m. alongside the northbound Harbor Freeway in South-Central Los Angeles. Debra Ann Sparks said the men demanded money at knifepoint, but she told them she didn't have any. She was found in the trunk five hours later after a motorist heard noises from the stalled car and called the California Highway Patrol. She was treated at California Medical Center for cuts and bruises.
