The Oregon State football team dropped its 1987 home opener with University of the Pacific and plans to fill the spot in its schedule by playing host to Gerry Faust's Akron Zips.

Lynn Snyder, Oregon State athletic director, said that Pacific had asked to cancel the Tigers' visit to Corvallis next year and the game scheduled at Stockton in 1990.

Akron, shifting in 1987 from the NCAA's Division I-AA to Division I-A, will visit Corvallis Oct. 10 next year. The Beavers are looking for an opponent to fill the 1990 date.
