American West Financial Inc. said that AT&T has agreed to install, collect revenue and maintain pay telephones for independent companies that are financed by American West's United Payphone Leasing subsidiary.
Costa Mesa-based American West, which completed its acquisition of United Payphone in May, declined to disclose terms of the agreement but said it expects to be able to install at least 100,000 pay telephones nationwide under the arrangement.
In addition to United Payphone, American West also owns Costa Mesa-based Integrity Communications Inc., a pay phone operating company, Dallas-based Intec, a telephone operating company, and American West Securities, an Atlanta-based brokerage firm that has not yet begun operation.
American West stock, which is traded over the counter, will be listed by the National Assn. of Securities Dealers within the next 60 days, according to Greg Gilbert, president and chief executive officer of American West.
