Lomita : Alcoholic Program Funded

September 18, 1986

A $10,000 Los Angeles County contract has been awarded to South Bay Recovery Inc. for continued operation of Serenity House, a six-bed recovery home for alcoholic women on Narbonne Avenue. The home provides meals and introduces women to the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery program, according to the county office of alcohol programs. The contract extends through Dec. 31.

A spokesman for Supervisor Deane Dana said the home has been operating without county funds and Dana secured the contract "as a reward for the good work they've been doing in providing services at a low-cost, efficient level."

Under terms of the contract, the home will be reimbursed $13.59 a day for every resident in its 180-day program. Fees charged to residents are based on ability to pay and the home is required to serve indigent women.
