September 21, 1986|BILL ROBERTSON

For the second straight season, Saddleback College's football team used a no-huddle offense against El Camino.

And it worked again Saturday, as the Gauchos won, 31-3, at El Camino.

Last year, Saddleback employed a no-huddle offense and defeated El Camino, 48-14, scoring 41 points in the first half.

On Saturday, Roger Fickling scored two touchdowns for the Gauchos (1-0) on runs of three and one yards. Fickling gained 40 yards in 16 carries.

Quarterback Pat Hegarty had an outstanding night, completing 19 of 27 passes for 209 yards. He also scored on a three-yard sneak late in the game.

Saddleback stopped the Warriors twice in the first half on fourth-and-one situations at the 11- and 16-yard lines. El Camino is now 1-1.

The Gauchos outgained the Warriors on offense, 353 yards to 215.
