An ice dam formed by the advancing Hubbard Glacier near Yakutat, Alaska, was expected to fail today, and authorities said the break could allow seals and porpoises trapped in a fiord to escape. Yakutat residents would probably not be threatened. "No one knows what form the failure will take," a U.S. Forest Service spokesman said. "It could be a sudden outburst and the sudden draining of Russell Lake, or the water could drain over several days."
