Jazz Commemorative Poster Stolen From Car

October 02, 1986

LOS ANGELES — A poster autographed by Johnny Carson, Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda and other show business figures was stolen over the weekend from a car parked on a street in Van Nuys, police reported.

Detectives said the poster, which was to have been enlarged for presentation to the Soviet Ministry of Culture in Moscow later this month in honor of the first U.S. appearance of the Russian jazz group Ganelin, was apparently taken from the car in the 6900 block of Hazeltine Avenue. Jazz-Aid International, which sponsored the group's appearance in Los Angeles, has offered a reward for the poster's return, a spokeswoman said.
