West Hollywood : Deputies to Enforce Sign Laws

October 02, 1986

Intent on reducing the number of advertising handbills posted on West Hollywood trees, poles, light standards and utility boxes, county sheriff's deputies plan to step up enforcement of city sign laws.

Capt. James Cook, commander of the West Hollywood sheriff's station, said there have been numerous complaints recently about public and private property covered by handbills.

The mounting of handbills on city or private property is a misdemeanor infraction of state law and violates a city ordinance against posted advertisements.
