I really enjoyed John Lawrence's Sept. 21 column ("Urgent! If You Get Junk Mail, Read This Now!"). I too have received envelopes from the outfit described, and I've simply pitched them out. I resent any outfit that tried to appear like an official government agency. Another type of mass mailing--from magazine sellers--starts off with, "Mr. (or Mrs. or Ms.), You may already have won 10 million dollars."
Actually, I don't personally know, nor have I heard of anyone (other than in their literature, which could be faked) who has won anything from these outfits. I wonder if a person who does not order a magazine really has a chance, as claimed, of winning anything.
