OUTTAKES THE SEQUEL

Tough Cookie

October 05, 1986|Ramin Zahed

Sigourney Weaver may be the star of "Aliens," but the members of Col. James S. May's Camp Pendleton Marine unit are going gaga over co-star Jenette Goldstein.

In the film, Goldstein portrays macha Marine Pvt. Vasquez, who helps Weaver take on those nasty aliens. Ever since seeing the picture, May's men have been requesting Goldstein posters from her agent (since there aren't any, the agency's sending photos and press clippings). May told us the Marines applaud "the space-age depiction of the utilization of women as active warriors, instead of supporting characters." They're even considering inviting Goldstein to their November ball.

The actress said she appreciates the enthusiasm, but may pass up the festivities: "I'm politically not in the same sphere as the Marines."
