What a bonanza for the people living in northern and eastern San Fernando Valley. The ridiculous redistricting initiated and approved by the City Council has deprived some Angelenos of the dedicated service of the finest public servant in the whole menagerie, Ernani Bernardi. But what it has done for the Valley! I hope they realize their good fortune.
I lived in Los Angeles for 55 years before moving to the beach a year ago. I watched and studied the council members for many of those years and I want to tell you Bernardi is as close to a perfect people's advocate as any politician can ever get. He's industrious, direct, responsible, outspoken, intelligent and incorruptible.
You can't hardly find one like that, believe me. I have never had the privilege of meeting him, but it's my honest opinion that the Valley has gained a fine protector and spokesman. His former constituents are the losers. All of Los Angeles would be the winners if Bernardi was the mayor. Someone ought to persuade him to run for the office and give the city a bonanza.
