Professor Wins Grant to Study in Rome

Joanna Woods-Marsden, an assistant professor of art history at the UCLA College of Fine Arts, has been awarded the Rome Prize, an Andrew W. Mellon fellowship for study at the American Academy in Rome next year.

She is one of 30 Americans selected from more than 1,000 applicants nationwide. Her research will focus on how works of art were used in North Italian courts. She is a specialist in Italian painting, sculpture and architecture from the 14th through 18th centuries.
