Beyond War Slates Talk on Contadora Peace Negotiations

October 23, 1986

Phyllis Kidd, a founder of the Beyond War movement, will speak on "Contadora: A New Way of Thinking" at a meeting of the Westside chapter at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in Klein Hall at University Synagogue, 11960 Sunset Blvd., Brentwood.

The Contadora group will receive the 1986 Beyond War Award for its efforts to negotiate peace in Nicaragua. The group involves people from Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela.

Beyond War is a nonpartisan educational foundation organized four years ago in Palo Alto. Its premise is that the technological sophistication of nuclear weapons has made war obsolete. The group has chapters in 29 states and a membership of 12,000 volunteers.
