The City Council this week approved an application by the Sandpipers philanthropic organization to hold its annual Design House at the home of former Los Angeles Raiders lineman Lyle Alzado.
The council stipulated, however, that the Sandpipers must bus visitors from a central parking location if parking on Via Coronel, where Alzado lives, becomes too congested as a result of the event scheduled for April 21 to May 17.
The council expressed concern that the public would show increased interest because of Alzado's celebrity status. A Sandpipers representative agreed Tuesday night that visitors will be bused if more than 100 cars per hour are parked on Via Coronel during the first week.
The Sandpipers annually select a home to be decorated by interior designers. The organization charges admission and proceeds go to charity.
